Gustira Monita is a multidisciplinary artist, curator, and researcher from Aceh, Indonesia, born on 14 August 1998. With an academic background in art and philosophy, her practice spans performance art, literature, and visual art, grounded in philosophical reflection and cultural inquiry, with particular attention to memory, space, and tradition within socio-cultural contexts. In her work, art is approached not merely as aesthetic expression, but as a mode of thinking and knowing—a site where collective memory, cultural experience, and philosophical questions are articulated through artistic forms. Alongside her artistic practice, she is actively engaged in curatorial work and research, contributing to critical discourse, curatorial frameworks, and the facilitation of interdisciplinary creative processes, particularly within locally situated and critically informed contemporary practices.
MISSION:
Gustira Monita approaches art as a form of knowledge and critical reflection, capable of cultivating awareness, provoking thought, and engaging with social and humanitarian concerns. Through multidisciplinary practice, she seeks to create works that move beyond aesthetic experience to invite contemplation, re-reading of reality, and conscious engagement with the world. She is committed to sustaining a dialogue between artistic heritage and contemporary practice, treating tradition not as a static legacy but as a living source of thought relevant to the present and future. In her role as an artist, curator, and researcher, Gustira is dedicated to facilitating creative processes and strengthening critical discourse, particularly in collaboration with younger generations and community-based contexts, with the conviction that art can function as a space for dialogue, learning, and transformation.
